The Gift of Faith
Jesus said to his disciples: “When you have done all that you have been told to do, say, ‘we are merely servants; we have done no more than our duty’. One of the most disturbing features of parish life today is the number of people who reduce the practice of their faith to the barest minimum and mostly without any joy. Many people are the same way about marriage and family life where the whole thing becomes a burden for them. We have a wonderful God who loves us with a passionate love. We have unbelievable gifts from God especially in the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation through which we share in the intimate life of God. We are temples of God’s Holy Spirit, with all the power of God’s love to transform our world. It seems such a shame to ruin it all with the mentality ‘do I have to do this?’ instead of freely taking our full part in building God’s Kingdom.

Morning Prayer, when together
Father, your love for us
surpasses all our hopes and desires.
Forgive our failings; keep us in your peace
and lead us in the way of salvation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
During the day, when apart
Father, receive the gift of our love for one another.
May our obedient service
bring us to the fullness of your redemption.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Evening/Night Prayer together
Almighty God, let your Holy Spirit
fill us with your life.
May the love of Christ touch our lives and lead us to you.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Questions for Action for the week
For your marriage: What is one of the best gifts of life your wife/husband has brought to you in marriage? How will you acknowledge that this week?
For others: How could you grow in some aspect of your faith this week?
