Christ our King

Jesus said to Pilate: ‘All who are on the side of truth listen to my voice’. We celebrate Christ as King, not in the sense of the world around us, which would look to power and strength, but as the one who has the true power of truth. In him we know God as one who loves us so much that he has given us his only Son to bring us to a knowledge of his love. In Christ we also come to know the deepest truths about ourselves – that every human person is made in the image of God; that each of us is a dwelling place of God’s Holy Spirit; that we are destined for eternal life; that the only way to live human life fully is to love God with our whole hearts and to love our neighbour as ourselves. It has been said that Christianity has not so much failed, as it has never been tried!

Morning Prayer, when together

Almighty and merciful God,

you break the power of evil and make all things new

in your Son Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe.

May all in heaven and earth acclaim your glory

and never cease to praise you.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Loving God, we offer you our sacrament of marriage

through which your Son reconciles humankind.

May it bring unity and peace to the world.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Father, you give us Christ, the King of all creation

to be our teacher and our brother.

Help us to live by his gospel

and bring us to the joy of his kingdom.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

For your marriage: Looking back over the past year take time to ask forgiveness for patterns of behaviour that may have caused loneliness to each other.

How can you bring hope to each other this week?

For others: Think of some group that is working for the homeless and destitute. How can you help that group this week?
