The Body and Blood of Christ.

“They all ate as much as they wanted, and when the scraps remaining were collected they filled twelve baskets.” The miracle of the five loaves and two fish distributed among so many people is given to us as a symbol of the greatest gift and miracle of all, the Eucharist. As God’s people we are so privileged to be fed with the Body and Blood of Christ week after week, so much so that we can even take it for granted. We have a responsibility to keep the wonder of this gift alive in us. We also have the responsibility to live this miracle through our love for one another in our homes and communities. Through the power of Christ there was more left over after thousands of people had been fed than when they started. That is what the same Jesus wants to happen among us today as a result of the Eucharist we celebrate.

Morning Prayer, when together

Lord Jesus Christ, we worship you living among us

in the sacrament of your Body and Blood.

May we offer to our Father in heaven

a solemn pledge of undivided love.

May we offer our brothers and sisters

a life poured out in loving service of your kingdom.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord, may our sacrament of marriage in union with your sacrifice

bring your Church the unity and peace they signify.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord Jesus Christ,

You give us your Body and Blood in the Eucharist

as a sign that even now we share your life.

Through our married love

may we come to possess it completely in the kingdom of heaven.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: At what times have you felt most in love with your wife/husband? Relive those times this week.

For others: Do you know someone who is very ill at present? How could you bring comfort to them this week?
